Operation Homeless Winter preparation (HWP)
What a beautiful day it is this July 15th of the year 2013, plenty of sun and wonderful weather right? Well sadly it does stay this nice year around. This page is established to address an issues that many of you may not be aware of. We have a epidemic here in Kitsap county that I believe must be address and we can not turn a blind eye to the homeless, "The number of homeless individuals and
households has been increasing. In March 2012, there were 2,356 households that reported being homeless- an increase of 1,428 households since 2008" (Lipton, 2013).
The above information was obtained from Beth Lipton, MPH, CPH January 31, 2013 Kitsap Public Health District Bremerton, Washington.

Help us to help those in need.
Because of the increase of homeless people normally do not plain on becoming homeless, they find themselves, sleep in their vehicle if they are lucky to have one. Many are forced to live in the woods, the homeless here in Kitsap county are comprised of children, mother, military veterans, those suffering from mental or substance issues and many teens While group such as the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) oversees the social services, offer many resources to the needy and the homeless many fall through the cracks of the system. Many churches here in Kitsap county are stepping up to help those in need, as well as the local food banks, Salvation Army, the Kitsap Rescue Mission (KRM) to name just a few of the organization.
